Independent Industrial Act, Aesthetic Perfection, Goes Full-On Pop With Their Cover of N*SYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye”

Written by | Headlines, New Music Alert

I have a lot of guilty pleasures musically– bad 80’s music, MySpace-era jams, the works– but two of the things I really love are boybands and industrial acts. To be clear, I’m picky with both and like far and few between, but when I find something that appeals to me in those genres, man do I love it. So, imagine my surprise when an act I’ve loved since I was a teen covered another act I’ve loved since I was a child… pure euphoria. As you may have guessed from the title, those two acts are Aesthetic Perfection and N*SYNC, and when combined you get the hauntingly dark yet still pop-friendly cover of the iconic jam, “Bye Bye Bye“.

For those unfamiliar with Aesthetic Perfection and Industrial Pop, this is a good start as it showcases the ambiance while emphasizing that at its core, the genre and artist is about celebrating pop and transforming how we think of its relation to darker genres (for those intrigued, go listen to songs like “Spit It Out“, “The Great Depression“, “Inhuman“, “Antibody“, and “Big Bad Wolf” to name a few).  Beyond their sound, Aesthetic Perfection has always been about change, evolution, and innovation as they remain an independent act while gearing up to release their latest single “Ebb and Flow” on February 2nd. Being a B-side from the single, “Bye Bye Bye” is a sensually tense, dark electronic ballad, that pairs minimal synths with brightly expressive vocal styling for a deeply morose aural experience. Meanwhile, “Ebb and Flow” has a swagger that recalls a not-so-distant past where the wars were cold and gratuitous excess burned hot; but producer Daniel Graves is not one for overwrought nostalgia. He keeps us focused on the future with clean electro rhythms and smooth vocal harmonies backed by aggressive percussion fit for an arena.

Available worldwide February 2nd, the three-track single contains an infinitely danceable remix by Miggiddo (alias of Mick Kenney of Anaal Nathrakh) and of course the cover of N*Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye,” featuring Nikki Misery of New Year’s Day on guitar. Graves may be tipping his hat to the past, but the “Ebb and Flow” single sets its sights on the sound of tomorrow.

Aesthetic Perfection will also be joining GRENDEL and PETER TURNS PIRATE on the SEVERED NATIONS North American Tour. Launching April 5 in Fairfield, OH, the tour will wind throughout North America, wrapping up May 13th in Toronto. Dates posted below.
