12 Days Of Punkmas: Day 2

Written by | Headlines, Holiday, Uncategorized

Told you this was really happening. It’s Day 2 of these shenanigans and if you live in the North East you woke up to another snow fall, if you live in the mid- North snow has been happening since like September for you guys [gross] and if you live on the West Coast or in the South – you guys can piss off in your shorts weather, acting like it’s 30 degrees when its 65 out. But with snow on the ground, let’s keep things festive – here are our picks for Day 2 of 12 Days of Punkmas.

Day 2:

Fall Out Boy – “What’s This

Back in 2008 – when the Emo Movement was in full affect – someone had the brilliant idea to have a bunch of fantastic artists take on songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas film and pump out awesome covers in honor of the film’s 15 year anniversary of it’s theatrical release. Those covers would then be released on an album called, Nightmare Revisited and all would be right in the Emo Community.

There were a few bands; however, who had done covers [either on their own accord or otherwise] but were not featured on the album; one of those artists being – Fall Out Boy. The video below is fan created and they did a killer job of putting FOB’s version over the original scene from the movie – Check it out!

New Found Glory – “Snow

Originally released in 2014 – it’s more of a ballad for these Pop-Punk artists, but this change of pace is really awesome to hear from these guys. You get just as much emotion out of this track as you do from tracks like “My Friends Over You” or “All Downhill From Here“. The official music video features scenes from classic holiday movies like What A Wonderful Life mixed with footage of the guys in such a normal, relaxed setting – between having an acoustic session on the street to just enjoying the lights and decorations around them. Anyone that knows NFG, knows these guys are the most down to earth, easy going guys in the world. They are legends in the music industry but they are by far one of the most approachable group of dudes and this music video highlights that.

In Memory – “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

You ever notice how whenever it snows someone immediately starts singing this song? Well, In Memory did a pretty damn good cover of this Christmas Classic. We wish we could give you more info on In Memory but there doesn’t seem to be much info out there. This cover was put out on A Santa Cause: It’s a Punk Rock Christmas Vol. 1, which also featured artists like Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory and Saosin.

That’s it for Day 2 of 12 – Enjoy ya snowy bastards!
