On September 15 Dark Tranquillity returned back to Gramercy Theater with special guests Warbringer and Striker.
Starting off night was Striker, sounding like an old school metal band similar to Iron Maiden. For a the venue being only half full it did not stop them one bit; they keep the energy up from the time they set foot on stage ’til the time they stepped off.
Next band up to the stage were thrash metal legends Warbringer, playing a very special set by performing their new album Woe to the Vanquished in its entirety– and damn did it get violent. It had been a while since I last saw the band, and they only got better since then; however the one thing that upset me was that they didn’t play “Combat Shock” or “Living in a Whirlwind“. They ended the night with “Living Weapon“, which made me happy even if Warbringer wont even out their ‘W’ banners on stage.
Now to the stage, the final act of the night Dark Tranquility playing everything from their classics to their new album Atoma. From the moment the lights dimmed down to the moment the house lights turned back on the cheers and DT chants did not stop after any song. They always praise the New York crowd for being a home away from home, and it’s always a fun time when they come to town. Great atmosphere, great fans, great music, and just a great times is what you’ll get when you go to one of Dark Tranquility’s show, so check them out when they’ll be back in the States in February for the 70 Tons of Metal Cruise Ship and their new album Atoma can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, or at your local record store.
