On August 3rd, 2017 The Rocket Summer played a sold out show at The Gramercy Theater in NYC, asking all us old school pop punk/emo kids if we still felt the same; and from the looks of it, we do.
Opening the night was The 888, an electro pop band that I enjoyed– they were like Lights meets The Maine. Their stage presence could of been a bit better, but overall it was a solid performance from an up-and-coming band. I would love to see these guys in the near future to see how they evolve and grow.
Next to take the stage was The Rocket Summer, who came out to play a very special set performing their hit album Do You Feel album in its entirety to celebrate the 10 year anniversary. I must say they performed the album perfectly, and Bryce Avary‘s interactions with the crowd were even better. Despite the venue having a barricade you never noticed it due to the fact that during every song he was trying to get as close to the crowd as possible; at one point he came off of the stage to play a few songs in a little circle with the crowd. It was a special memory for anyone in attendance, and even more special for someone who considers The Rocket Summer their favorite artist. I would go see them live again and I encourage that you do to when they come to a town near you.
