Hailing out of Detroit, MI, I Prevail continue to impress with the unveiling of their latest music video “Lifelines” – the title track off their debut album that dropped last October.

The cinematic video opens with the intense stare of a fighter named Taylor, who we learn will be entering into the biggest fight of his career without his father in his corner for the first time. The video’s shift in tone from a cool blue to an intense, hot orange worked incredibly well with the emotional fighter plot and touches on I Prevail as a whole.

I Prevail is one of a number of bands that have decided to utilize two different vocalist – Brian Burkheiser (clean vocals) and Eric Vanlerberghe (harsh vocals). Keeping Brain under the cooler hues and Eric under the warmer ones speaks to how they function as a band, and their own identity within their music. Part of what I love about I Prevail is how their frontmen seem to meld together vocally in such a way that is honestly so different from any band that’s currently in the scene; when you hear each voice on their own you don’t initially think that they would flow into each other– but it works, and it works well.

The first time I covered them years ago, I had no idea who they were nor what they were about. However, the minute they opened their mouths and music hit my ears, my jaw dropped– I knew that these guys were ones to watch. They consistently put on some of the best live shows and they do something that many artists fall flat on – their records reflect that same high energy that their live show has. Any album that gets you to a level of hype that has you screaming ‘Holy Fuck, I can’t wait ’til these guys come to town‘ is such a win and makes the album an overall success. To have their debut album possess such high energy as well as an incredible sound is absolutely remarkable and something I Prevail should be very proud of.

You can now get their debut album Lifelines on iTunes for only $7.99, and to add to the excitement I Prevail are gearing up to embark on a headlining tour with We Came As Romans, The Word Alive & Escape The Fate this fall– check out the dates below!
