Even with a short set list Deap Vally managed to start the out the show with a bang; no bs, just straight forward rock. For just two people, the Los Angeles duo had an amazingly captivating stage presence with their eye-catching sense of fashion and shredful jams. With the release of their ep FEMEJISM last year, along with their recent acoustic release of the album (check out our review of FEMEJISM (Unplugged) HERE) while touring with both Blondie and Garbage, Deap Vally has been on quite the rollercoaster. Through their larger than life presence on stage as well as their true Rock n’ Roll sound, they’ve proven that they aren’t done with their success; they’ve only just begun! This tour gave them the opportunity to showcase their trademark songs like “Baby Can I Hell” and “Heart Is an Animal,” which we are so thankful for as they’re infectious and soon to be staples for any rock fan. Deap Vally’s set proved them worthy to play alongside the headlining big names without getting caught in the shadow– it was hard to forget their power, their sound, and their performance as a whole. It is always exciting to see women come together from all ends of the music scene to pave the way for those waiting in the wings and inspiring future women to rock.
